THE GOODMAN COMPANY EMERGING AS A TOP REGIONAL RETAIL DEVELOPER WITH MORE THAN FIVE MILLION SQUARE FEET OF SHOPPING CENTERS IN DEVELOPMENT IN THE SOUTHEAST

West Palm Beach, Fla. - The Goodman Company, the West Palm Beach-based firm that began developing malls and shopping centers in the northeast almost 50 years ago, is emerging as one of the most active retail developers in the southeast.

John W. Dowd III, senior vice president of development at The Goodman Company, said the firm currently has more than five million square feet of space under development in Florida, Georgia, and Virginia.

The firm's projects include 2.5 million square feet of mixed-use retail development at Wiregrass Ranch in Tampa, a 500,000-square foot retail development in Virginia Beach, 300,000 square feet in Palm Beach County, and 300,000 square feet in Cobb County, Ga. The firm recently opened Jefferson Commons, a 400,000-square foot retail center in Newport News, Va., Dowd said.

The Goodman Company is also developing more than two million square feet of mixed-use residential, and commercial space at Freedom Commerce Center in Jacksonville and a 120,000-square foot retail center on Jacksonville's north side, he added.

The firm is known for taking a creative approach to upscale retail design and development. The Goodman Company won awards for its development of major retail facilities for Saks Fifth Avenue and Nieman Marcus stores on fashionable Worth Ave. in Palm Beach.
